(33 customer reviews)

Price range: 77$ through 202$

High-end mehudarot mezuzah, made in Israel (10 to 25 cm). Hand-tanned scrolls, checked, recommended by Rabbi Ron Chaya.

Description

Our Mehudar mezuzah scrolls are entirely crafted in our workshop in Israel, handwritten by Rabbi Daniel Malka and checked twice — by computer and by a qualified proofreader. Available in 5 sizes (10 to 25 cm), these mezuzot combine exemplary halachic compliance, beautiful writing and Israeli market prices. Recommended by Rabbi Ron Chaya.

📏 Which Mezuzah Size Should You Choose?

The choice of scroll size mainly depends on the location of the mezuzah on your doorway and the level of Hiddur — enhancement of the mitzvah — that you desire. The larger the scroll, the more spacious the writing and the greater the Hiddur.

Size Recommended for Hiddur level
10 cm Secondary doorways: children’s bedrooms, utility rooms and small hallways ✅ Kosher
12 cm Standard size — interior doorways: bedrooms, kitchen, living room and office ✅✅ Mehudar
15 cm Main entrance door — the most popular size ✅✅✅ Mehudar +
20 cm Large main entrance doors, building entrances and synagogues ⭐ Premium
25 cm Synagogues, batei midrash and community institutions ⭐⭐ Excellence
💡 The Sofer’s advice: For a standard house or apartment, the most common combination is 15 cm for the main entrance and 12 cm for interior doorways. To learn more about which doorways require a mezuzah, read our complete mezuzah installation guide.

✨ Mehudar Mezuzah vs Standard Mezuzah: What Is the Difference?

All our mezuzah scrolls are of Mehudar quality, meaning that they meet standards that go beyond the minimum halachic requirements:

  • The writing: Every letter is formed precisely, respecting the proportions and spacing established by tradition. The writing is not merely compliant; it is also beautiful.
  • The tagim (crowns): Letters that require crowns are carefully adorned with them, in accordance with the teachings of our sages.
  • The parchment (klaf): Manually processed in accordance with halachic requirements, providing an optimal surface for preserving the writing over time.
  • Double inspection: Every scroll is checked by computer scanner and then reviewed by a qualified STaM proofreader.

A standard, non-Mehudar mezuzah meets the minimum requirements of Halacha, but its writing may be less meticulous, the crowns may be absent and its inspection less thorough. For optimal compliance and quality, Mehudar is the recommended choice.

We also offer the Mehudar א”א (Aleph Aleph) level, representing the highest standard of quality: exceptionally beautiful writing in which every letter is a true work of sacred art.

🏠 How Many Mezuzot Does a Home Need?

Every doorway leading to a room measuring at least 2 m × 2 m requires a mezuzah, except for bathrooms and toilets. This includes:

  • The main entrance — 15 cm recommended
  • Bedrooms, living room, kitchen and office
  • Hallways and entrance halls with doorframes
  • Large archways between two rooms, even without a physical door
  • Large walk-in closets

In practice, a standard apartment generally requires between 5 and 8 mezuzot, while a house usually requires between 8 and 15 mezuzot. Contact us for a personalised quote based on the number of doorways in your home.

💡 Good to know: When installing several mezuzot at the same time, such as when moving into a new home, you recite the blessing only once for all the mezuzot. For further details, read our mezuzah installation guide.

🔍 Caring for and Inspecting Your Mezuzot

Even a Mehudar-quality mezuzah scroll can deteriorate over time because of humidity, heat or the natural ageing of the ink. It is recommended to have your mezuzot inspected by a qualified Sofer at least once every 3 to 5 years.

We offer a remote mezuzah inspection service: send us your scrolls and we will inspect them carefully.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions About Mezuzot

What size mezuzah should I choose for my main entrance?

For a main entrance door, we recommend a 15 cm scroll. This is the most popular size and provides an excellent balance between Hiddur and price. For a higher standard, you may choose a 20 cm scroll. Read our installation guide for further details.

How can I know whether my mezuzah is kosher?

A kosher mezuzah must be handwritten by a certified Sofer STaM on parchment processed in accordance with Halacha. Every letter must be perfectly formed, as even a single error can invalidate the scroll. Our mezuzot are checked twice — by computer and by an expert — and supplied with an analysis certificate. To learn more, read our article Why and when should mezuzot be inspected?

What is the difference between Mehudar and Mehudar א”א?

The Mehudar standard guarantees carefully formed writing with crowns (tagim), double inspection and manually processed parchment. The Mehudar א”א (Aleph Aleph) level goes even further: it represents the highest standard of beautiful writing for those who wish to fulfil the mitzvah with the greatest possible excellence.

Is the mezuzah case included?

No. The scroll is sold separately from the case. You can purchase a mezuzah case on our website, starting from €2, by selecting the size that matches your scroll.

How many mezuzot are needed for an apartment?

Every doorway leading to a room measuring at least 2 m × 2 m requires a mezuzah, except bathrooms and toilets. On average, an apartment requires 5 to 8 mezuzot, while a house requires 8 to 15. Contact us for a personalised quote.

How often should mezuzot be inspected?

It is recommended to have your scrolls inspected every 3 to 5 years, or immediately after prolonged exposure to humidity, a fall or if unusual difficulties arise in the household. We offer a remote inspection service.

What is the delivery time?

The processing time is 5 to 7 business days. Delivery from Jerusalem then takes 10–15 days with Colissimo or 2–5 days with DHL. Colissimo delivery is free to Europe and North America.
